Project workplan

The workplan for the TIE-ENERGIA project consists of 6 work-packages, as follows:

Work package 1: Strengthening of Regional Energy and Gender Network

This work package will strengthen the capacities of gender and energy trainers within the Network, which is crucial for building-up a critical mass of self-confident women leaders and gender sensitive men to change policies, programmes and practices that affect women’s energy choices within the context of poverty. A key output of this work package will be the training modules and training of trainers carried out in Botswana, Kenya and Senegal.

Workpackage 2: Education and Training

Awareness, knowledge and skills of approximately 180 development practitioners ranging from Network members and Focal Points to policy makers, planners and project implementers in 12 African countries, to integrate gender and energy concerns into sustainable development and poverty reduction programmes, will have been increased.

Workpackage 3: Gender Audits of Energy Policies: Mainstreaming Gender in Energy Policy

Gender gaps in national energy policies and related recommendation for engendering energy polices will have been identified as a basis for advocacy in three countries in Western (Senegal), Eastern (Kenya) and Southern Africa (Botswana), using a model that could be extended to other countries in the Network and worldwide as a result of this work-package. See the section on gender audits for more information.

Workpackage 4: Dissemination

As a result of this work-package the project results will be disseminated to all identified stake-holders within the Network countries and worldwide. This will give a strong identity to the net-work, ensuring that project deliverables are valued, and used for energy planning and policies in each country. The value of the activities will last well beyond the end of the project.

Workpackage 5: Project and Workpackage Coordination

This work-package puts in place the administrative “backboneâ€? of the project (including contracts, budgets, detailed task descriptions and time planning or terms of references (ToRs), financial and narrative reports, financial audits) as well as a smooth communication flow between the different project partners and, whenever needed, “problem solvingâ€?.

Workpackage 6: Common Dissemination Activities

Project presentations, including oral, digital, written and visual media, presented and disseminated at meetings and conferences in association with the EIE and other relevant programmes.
